Have you ever seen a Lego Minifigure and thought “Hmm, these things look cool”? Well, there is a whole world of LEGO Minifigures collectors all around the world, and it’s pretty interesting. In this article, we’ll go over some tips and tricks that will help you get started in the hobby, and we’ll also show you some of our favorite collections from around the internet.

So, why collect LEGOs?

For many people, collecting is a passion project that is very rewarding. It can be a fun way to engage with your children or other family members, and it’s also a great way to relieve stress. And much like Sneakers or stamps, there are many different ways to collect LEGO Minifigures, so you can tailor the hobby to your own interests.

Some people like to focus on a certain theme, such as Star Wars or Marvel, while others prefer to collect Minifigures from their favorite movies or TV shows. Some people even build elaborate displays for their collections and make truly unique designs. LEGOs are one of those markets that adults still find relaxing and enjoyable, like a puzzle or a board game.

How to collect:

There are many ways to go about collecting Minifigures, so you can choose what appeals most to you. First, you can buy “blind packs”, and take a chance on which one you’ll get. If you want to enter a little more of a moderate mode, you can buy full collections or sets for a decent price and move towards buying individual and more expansive figures.

For those who don’t look for the buzz of the expansive but still want the coolness, you can get the parts that make a figure like the head, body, legs, and hands separately from each other and create a one-of-a-kind figure according to your own taste and aesthetic choice.

Display:

After you chose and bought a few figures, the need for a display comes to mind, and for that, you also have some options. You can get a dedicated display from a place like Amazon, or build one yourself from – you guessed it – LEGO bricks.

you can find online a to of very creative choices for a display for budget and specific needs, and the DIY options are endless. Whether you display them in your room, home or office they will be a very special art piece and will probably be an interesting conversation starter.

collectibles:

The collectible Minifigures can range in price A LOT. For a basic one, you will have to pay between $5-$10, and for the more expensive ones, you’re looking at 500$ all the way to $300,000(!). The price is mostly out of rarity and the desirability of limited editions by serious collectors. Let’s look at some of the figures you’ll need to sell your car or house to buy.

Batman (Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive) – $617

In 2011, a 6-piece DC Comics Super Heroes promotion set with 1 minifig was produced. This unique kit was available for purchase to San Diego Comic-Con attendees who won the daily raffle. It was distributed in an edition of 1500 copies to lucky raffle winners.

Mr. Gold – $4,524

Mr. Gold is a Minifigure from Series 10 that contains 8 pieces and was released as part of the collectible series in 2013. Only 5,000 Mr. Gold minifigs were produced for the Series 10 Minifigures collection.

14K Gold C-3PO – $300,000

This uncommon C-3PO Minifigure is constructed of 14k gold. It was given away as part of a promotion through LEGO Magazine. One of these five has been alleged to be for sale on eBay for $300,000 as of May 2019.
